Don Mar

The founder of Edge Developers, Don Mar has over forty years of experience in all facets of real estate development, and construction and property management. His completed projects include mixed-use residential communities including market rate apartments, affordable apartments, senior housing, student housing, condominiums and townhomes. Don has also developed commercial office buildings and master planned single family developments.

Prior to Edge, Don worked extensively in the construction industry. He co-founded three construction companies including Marpac Construction LLC, a $75 million general contractor that specializes in mixed-use residential, adaptive reuse, historic restoration and new commercial office buildings.

The need to successfully hold long-term real estate investments led to the formation of Mar Properties LLC in 2005 to manage three commercial office buildings and six mixed-use apartment buildings in the Seattle area.

Don has been an active member in the community, sitting on multiple boards of nonprofit and construction industry organizations. He served on the board of the Kin On Health and Social Service organization in Seattle for nearly a decade. Don has volunteered his time and expertise on various committees for Housing Affordability and Livability (HALA), the Wing Luke Museum, Interim Community Development, and the Associated Builders and Contractors.

Joel Ing

Joel Ing has been a specialist in community development for over thirty years, managing a wide range of projects throughout the Northwest. He has expertise in both private and public financing structures including regulations associated with affordable housing funding, and Federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.

He is a primary contact in negotiations with property owners, funders, lenders, and investors, and is responsible for the financial feasibility analysis of development opportunities. This includes managing new project opportunities, negotiating property acquisition terms, structuring development budgets, formulating partnership documents, and overseeing the due diligence leading to financial closings.

Joel has a long history of assisting non-profit and government organizations in fulfilling their missions through publicly financed projects. He previously worked as a public finance banker and municipal credit analyst.

Joel takes pride in remaining active in the community he was raised in, and has served on numerous boards and volunteered for various causes. He serves on the Seattle Housing Levy Oversight Committee, and is a Governor appointee to the Washington State Public Stadium Authority. He formerly served on the King County Housing Development Consortium Board, and Washington State Affordable Housing Advisory Board.

Evan Chan

Evan Chan has been active in the Pacific Northwest in the development and construction industries for almost twenty-five years. He has developed and built numerous mixed-use infill apartments and condominiums in the Puget Sound areas with projects exceeding 250 units.

Evan has a broad range of experience in leading development projects from concept through feasibility, due diligence, design, construction, and sell-out for mid-rise/mixed use projects. His experience as both a developer and general contractor provides a thorough and seamless development process. He takes the lead in preconstruction estimating and budget analysis of multifamily and townhome projects, and continually seeks new financing strategies that best serve Edge’s partners.

Wei Yang

Wei Yang has over twenty years of combined experience in engineering and real estate development. Earlier in his career, Wei worked as a structural engineer designing and managing various projects. His projects ranged from Class A office buildings to high-rise hotels and luxury residential buildings. He is currently licensed as Professional Engineer (PE) and Structural Engineer (SE) in the State of Washington. After he received his MBA at the University of Washington in 2013, Wei started to work with owners and investors to manage various real estate development projects, including 34-unit and 22-unit apartments in the University District, a 117-unit apartment and 5 townhouse phased project in Lake City, a 234-unit mixed-use building next to the University Village shopping center, and a 37-story high-rise apartment building in downtown Seattle.

 Wei Yang came to the United States after finishing his undergraduate study at the Tsinghua University in Beijing in 1998. Wei can speak, read, and write in Chinese and English fluently. His real estate experience ranges from feasibility study, permitting and entitlement, to construction management. He is well-suited to work with design teams and contractors during pre-construction and construction to make timely and cost-effective decisions. He has helped many clients coordinate with city and utility companies to promptly issue required permits. Wei also oversees leasing up processes with property management companies to ensure a successful transition and stabilization of his projects.
